Hello!

My name is Adil [pronounced aaa-dil). I also go by dil, doc and him.

I am:

Canadian, Torontonian, a settler, 38, a cisgender man, straight, a child of Tanzanian immigrants, a descendant of Indian and Persian ancestors, brown skinned, born Shia Ismaili Muslim, became an omnist, mostly able, middle class, post secondary educated, experience anxiety and unaffiliated with a political party.

Some of these identities will never change, some I am in the process of unfolding and some I have not yet shared but will in time and when relevant.

Present Experiences

I am the son of Mebs, Shain and Salim and brother to Azra and Amira. Shilbee and I got married in October 2022. We co-live with 6 others in Tkaronto at the Clarens Commons and I have a sauna delivery service on speed dial.

I am the Director of Community for Reset, a social enterprise that envisions a world where adults just play for the sake of play and in order to help address our growing disconnection and divisions.

Since 2016, I have been the Board Chair for the StopGap Foundation, a social enterprise that makes communities more physically accessible through deploying physical ramps and raising awareness.

Prior to Reset, I was briefly the Managing Director at Artscape Danielā€™s Launchpad and I worked at the Centre for Social Innovation for many years as its Director of Culture and later as its Executive Director.

Some of my previous projects include co-founding one of the worldā€™s first mobile video apps in 2008, being a community liaison on the Obama campaign in Brooklyn in 2007 and launching a cooperative lemonade stand when I was 6 that still informs my thinking today.

I have been recognized as a DiverseCity Fellow and a Common Futures Fellow.
